Shreyas Iyer, captain of KKR, might not play in all of IPL 2023, according to a report

In less than a month, the sixteenth season of the lucrative Indian Premier League will get underway on March 31. Several players will skip the league because of their individual injuries. Star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and Mumbai Indians pacer Jasprit Bumrah are two prominent players on that roster.

David Warner has been named as the new skipper of the Delhi Capitals after Rishabh suffered an unfortunate accident in December of last year.

Bumrah, who has been sidelined for several months with a back injury, is not expected to play in this match because he is still recuperating from it.

The most recent addition to the roster could be Shreyas Iyer, the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The star batter was removed from the white-ball series, which began in Mumbai on Friday, after he was forced to withdraw from the final India vs. Australia Test in Ahmedabad due to back discomfort and was immediately sent for scanning.

According to reports on Cricbuzz, his recovery is also being closely watched, and a precise update won't be available for another 10 days.

The report also stated that the preliminary scan results were not very promising and that KKR, like Delhi Capitals, may be required to search for alternative captaincy options.

Iyer may not even participate in KKR's season opener on April 1 against Punjab Kings. After completing their national responsibilities, Bangladeshi celebrities Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Das will also be running behind schedule.

IPL 2023: Harbhajan Singh Discloses Regarding MS Dhoni Rift Rumors

Harbhajan Singh, a member of Team India and the 2011 World Cup champion, recently addressed his strained friendship with former India captain MS Dhoni. The former Indian spinner openly admitted his affection for Dhoni and even brought up the fact that they had shared a dressing area while playing both domestic (IPL) and international cricket. The Punjabi woman admitted that although the two have a strong connection, they don't often get together because they both have busy lives.

Why would MS Dhoni be an issue for me? We were extremely close friends while representing India in a number of cricket matches, and we still are. We don't see each other very often because both of us got occupied with our lives. Regarding his friendship with Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh said on the YouTube program "Sports Yaari" that there is "absolutely no rift at all.

As far as I'm aware, he hasn't stolen any of my belongings. (laughs). But sure, I am intrigued by some of his assets, particularly his farmhouse," he continued.

Bhajji and MSD shared a locker area while competing for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Super League (IPL) in addition to representing Team India. (CSK). For three years, Harbhajan was a member of the group, and in 2018, he and CSK claimed the IPL championship.

Regarding Dhoni, the 41-year-old is probably going to participate in the Chennai franchise's final IPL season. On March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, CSK will play their season opener against the Gujarat Titans (GT), who are the defending winners and are coached by Hardik Pandya. Ben Stokes, an English bowler, was purchased by Chennai for their upcoming season at the IPL 2023 mini-auction for a staggering sum of Rs 16.25 crore.

Robin Uthappa remembers how MS Dhoni was honest with him about playing in the IPL, saying, "I still respect that.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, a former captain of India, is renowned for his composure on the field and his candor off it. Dhoni, one of the finest captains in the world and a former international cricketer, will next be seen in the IPL in 2023, which begins on March 31.

Dhoni has won the IPL championship four times with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), which is the second-most wins (behind Rohit Sharma's five for the Mumbai Indians). But Dhoni is very clear-headed about what he desires, and his former CSK teammate Robin Uthappa concurs with him.

Uthappa described an instance involving Dhoni's rational thought process while speaking on JioCinema, the IPL 2023's official digital broadcaster.

MS is a very affable individual. Even if it hurts you, he will tell the truth without holding back. He called me after I was selected by CSK in the auction and told me he wasn't sure if I'd give you an opportunity to play because the season is still in the future and I hadn't given it much thought. I'll let you know if I do decide to let you participate. I had already spent 13 productive years in the IPL by this point. But he still came right out and told me what he had to do. I still think highly of that, Uthappa said.

Notably, Dhoni is one of the best captains in IPL history, having led his team to victories in 123 of the 210 games he has commanded, defeats in 86 of those games, and a draw in one.

Dhoni, who is now 41 years old, relinquished control of CSK midway through the previous season after a run of defeats in favor of Ravindra Jadeja. At the end of the 14-game season, CSK had only managed four victories and ten defeats.

On March 31, the upcoming season of the premier league gets underway, and Dhoni is anticipated to captain the team.

Kane Williamson matches Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag with his sixth test double-hundred against Sri Lanka.

On March 18, former New Zealand Test captain Kane Williamson notched his sixth double-hundred in the most basic of formats. The right-handed batter accomplished the accomplishment in game two of the current two-game Test series against Sri Lanka at Wellington's Basin Reserve.

Williamson also shared the record for the most double hundreds in Test cricket with Marvan Atapattu, Virender Sehwag, Javed Miandad, Younis Khan, Ricky Ponting, and Javed Miandad. The legendary Don Bradman, who ended his career with 12 200+ scores in only 52 matches, currently holds the record for the most double hundreds in Test matches.

Williamson batted on the opening day at Stumps and was undefeated at 26. The veteran reached his century in the first portion of the second day's play after 171 balls. He then needed 285 balls to achieve his double century.

Williamson also had a 363-partnership with Henry Nicholls, who amassed 100 as well. After scores of 251, 242 not out, and 238 against the West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, the 32-year-old batter recorded his fourth-highest total in Test cricket.

In the third and final play practice of the day, the batter from Tauranga was struck out while attempting to raise the stakes. Williamson attempted to drive Prabath Jayasuriya, a spinner, down the field, but he struck out to long on replacement Ramesh Mendis.

Williamson eventually scored 215 runs off 296 deliveries, using 23 fours and two sixes in the process. He played at a strike-rate of 72.63, which demonstrated how fluid he was throughout his innings.

Chris Gayle believes a 30-year-old Indian batsman can break the 175-run world record in Twenty20 matches, but he is not Suryakumar Yadav.

Chris Gayle, a former batter for the West Indies, is a true icon in the sport. In T20 cricket, Gayle will always be known as the "Universe Boss," and his achievements speak for themselves. Gayle has played in 462 games and amassed 14,562 runs in the format, including 22 hundreds. In the 2013 IPL, he destroyed the Pune Warriors India attack, setting a new mark for the highest individual score in the format with 175* (66).

There have been several players who have come close, including Aaron Finch (172), Hamilton Masakadza (162*), Brendon McCullum (158*), and most recently Dewald Brevis (162), but none of them have been able to break the mark. Gayle is at the summit, at least for the time being, despite the fact that many have predicted players like Jos Buttler and Suryakumar Yadav to overtake her.

Gayle chose a star batter in a conversation with JioCinem who would surpass Sachin's mark. He unexpectedly mentioned KL Rahul. KL Rahul has the potential to do so, according to Gayle, who played alongside Rahul for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings in the IPL.

"KL Rahul comes to mind for one. He can do it on his day. We've all seen KL Rahul on the move, and if he chose to bat like that occasionally, if not most of the time, which I'd love to see, he can get that. However, I don't think he believes in his ability to get that big score. He becomes extremely hazardous batting-wise when he moves from the 15th to the 20th [over] of the game. He can certainly surpass 175 if he gets off to a good start and hits a big hundred, Gayle said.

The third player to accumulate 7000 runs and 300 wickets is Shakib Al Hasan.

Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh, an all-rounder, became the third player to achieve 7000 runs and 300 wickets in ODI cricket. When he hit 24 runs in the opening ODI match against Ireland in Sylhet, he joined Sanath Jayasuriya and Shahid Afridi on the list. He is Bangladesh's second-highest run scorer in the format, trailing only Tamim Iqbal (8146 runs).

Shakib received a single from Curtis Campher in the 20th over of Bangladesh's innings to achieve the milestone.

Shakib's four-wicket haul during Bangladesh's previous ODI against England earlier this month helped him achieve 300 career wickets. In the third ODI in Chattogram, he took Rehan Ahmed out to reach the milestone. He joined Daniel Vettori and Jayasuriya as the third left-arm spinner to accomplish the feat.

With 231 and 128 wickets, respectively, Shakib is Bangladesh's leading wicket-taker in Tests and T20 Internationals. With 443 wickets, Shakib is presently the fifth-highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket. He is one of just two players—the other is Dwayne Bravo—to have amassed 6000 runs, 400 wickets, and 50 captures in T20s.

The purpose of the Australian team's black armbands on Day 2 of the fourth Test against India

Usman Khawaja scored a hundred as Australia dominated the first day of the fourth Test match against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Unfortunately, the visitors' second day got off to a fairly gloomy start when Pat Cummins, the usual Test and ODI captain, lost his mother Maria overnight. After the second Test in Delhi was over, Cummins returned home to be with his unwell mother. Despite having his mother in hospice care, the skipper chose against returning when there was a one-week gap between the second and third Test.

After a protracted illness, Cummins' mother passed away in Sydney overnight. In a statement, Cricket Australia expressed their sympathy for Cummins' mother on Twitter. On Friday, March 10, the second day of the fourth Test, the entire Australian team will wear black armbands as a sign of respect.

Rohit Sharma dismisses the criticism from erstwhile coach Ravi Shastri.

Rohit Sharma, the skipper of India, has responded angrily to the criticism levelled at him after his team's third Test loss to Australia by nine wickets last week in Indore.

India had a 2-0 series lead when they lost seven wickets before noon on Day 1 of the third Test at Indore due to a poor first session. After being ultimately expelled for 109, they never recovered. Their showing drew a lot of criticism, with Ravi Shastri, a former India player and coach, pointing out that the hosts had paid for being "complacent" and "over-confident." Rohit was questioned regarding his agreement with Shastri's evaluation on the eve of the fourth Test. He didn't seem particularly happy.

It really is that easy; you don't want to give up after two victories, Rohit said. It's completely ridiculous if people on the outside think we are arrogant because you want to give each of the four games your all. It is clear that none of these men, particularly the ones outside the dressing room, understand the conversation that takes place there when they complain about being overconfident and other things.

For me and every cricket player, the word "ruthless" instantly comes to mind. When a team is playing, particularly when they are touring abroad, they are advised not to allow the opposition any room to manoeuvre. When we have toured abroad, we have also encountered this."

The opponents will never permit you to take part in the contest or the tournament. Additionally, that is how we operate. In every contest, we want to perform at our best. Since Ravi himself has been in this dressing room and is aware of our playing mentality, it doesn't really matter to us if it appears overconfident or anything similar to outsiders. It's not about being overconfident; it's about being merciless."

Ian Chappell claims that India is suffering because they haven't found a solution to the Usman Khawaja situation.

According to Australian icon Ian Chappell, India's inability to address Usman Khawaja's batting is beginning to affect them.

By the end of the first day of the Ahmedabad Test, the Australians were 255 for four, and Khawaja, who has been Australia's greatest batter in the series, capped up his stellar run with his first century against India.

The Australian opener is presently leading the runs table with 257 runs in the series.

The Australian legend went on to remark that Khawaja appeared at ease at all times and India are failing to find a solution to his batting and it has reached a stage where the hosts are getting wounded by the opener.

Throughout this series, I believe Khawaja's composure has been excellent. India's constant willingness to approach a left-hander from around the wicket baffles me. Simply stated, I don't understand it. The right arm over the wicket, according to every good left-hander I've spoken to, is the hardest line to play. Okay, so you can now occasionally bowl around the wicket for a change. That is absurd in India yet works perfectly in England. especially to someone like Khawaja, whose greatest asset is his side. Today, we observed that. Given that he specifically wants you to slant the ball into his pads, why would you do that?

Khawaja also had the appearance of being at ease at all times. India's inability to address Khawaja's batting, in my opinion, is really beginning to damage them.

What happens if India ties or loses the fourth Test against Australia?

The eagerly awaited fourth test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With convincing victories in the first two games against the visitors, the Indian side got the series off to a strong start. However, Rohit Sharma and his squad suffered a defeat in the third Test in Indore at the hands of Australia, who handed them a humiliating 9-wicket loss.

India would have advanced to the World Test Championships final with a victory in the third Test encounter. Sadly, they now have to wait for the final game to determine their destiny. The Indian squad is still committed to recovering from this setback and defeating their formidable opponents.

India WTC final qualifying scenario: First phrase

India will attain a PCT of 63.0 and move up to second place in the points standings if they defeat Australia 3-1 in the Border-Gavaskar series. Australia will nevertheless make the WTC final despite their PCT dropping to 65.0 by taking the top position in the WTC points table.

In this scenario, Sri Lanka's 2-0 win over New Zealand will not matter because they will finish with a PCT of 61.0, putting them third behind Australia and India. A 3-1 victory in the India vs. Australia Test series will therefore guarantee both teams' spots in the WTC championship game.

Second phrase

Sri Lanka will have an opportunity to beat India in the World Test Championship (WTC) final if the game is a draw and India wins the series 2-1. But India will need to pray that Sri Lanka does not thump New Zealand 2-0 in the Test series. Sri Lanka will overtake India in the WTC points table and move up to the coveted second position with a PCT of 61.0 if they are successful in accomplishing this feat.

Final phrase

The India vs. Australia Test series will finish in a tie if Australia defeats India in the final Test. In this case, Sri Lanka has a chance to beat New Zealand 2-0 and advance to the World Test Championship (WTC) final. It's crucial to remember, though, that Sri Lanka must sweep the Kiwis in the series. Sri Lanka will not be able to clinch the second position in the World Test Championship points table with a 1-0 victory or a 1-1 draw.

Therefore, the result of the Sri Lanka vs. New Zealand game will have a major impact on India's ability to compete in the WTC final. It's important to remember that Sri Lanka will be playing on foreign territory, making it difficult for them to sweep New Zealand in the series.

In the ICC Test Bowling Standings, James Anderson and Ravichandran Ashwin share first place.

Just a week earlier, Ravichandran Ashwin had displaced James Anderson as the best Test bowler. However, following the most recent update to the ICC Test Bowling Rankings, the English pacer had returned to share the top spot with an Indian spinner.

In the third Test against Australia, Ashwin claimed four wickets, but his rating fell by six points, allowing Anderson to equal the seasoned spinner on a total of 859 rating points.

Despite missing the final two Tests against India, Australian captain Pat Cummins is still in third position, but his rating has dropped to 849 points.

Kagiso Rabada of South Africa, who took eight wickets in the Proteas' 87-run victory over the West Indies in the first Test at Centurion, moved up three places to fourth on the most recent list of Test bowlers and up to 807 rating points, suggesting that there may soon be another challenger.

Nathan Lyon of Australia is another notable riser inside the top 10, moving up five spots to ninth overall after his match-winning 11-wicket performance in the third Test against India.

Usman Khawaja of Australia, who bats first in a Test match, moves up two spots to ninth overall, the only change among the top 10 batters. Aiden Markram of South Africa, who bowls right-handed, and Jermaine Blackwood of the West Indies, who bats in the middle of the order, both make significant gains after strong showings in the first Test.
