The seasoned cricketer Murali Vijay has declared
his retirement from all international cricket competitions. In his
international career, the former Indian opener played 61 Tests, 17 ODIs, and
nine T20Is. His international career started in 2008.
In his retirement letter, he remarked, "My journey from 2002-2018 has been the most joyful years of my life for it was an honour serving India at the highest level of sport."
"I am thankful for the opportunity provided to me by the Chennai Super Kings, Chemplast Sanmar, Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI), and Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA)." he continued.
In the Perth Test in December 2018, Vijay made his final appearance for India. He also made his final first-class and List A cricket appearances for Tamil Nadu in late 2019. He played his final game of professional cricket in the IPL in September 2020.
